Accindents happen in the bedroon

It's a natural phenomenon. The older a person gets, the less space they usually have for themselves in bed. First a partner or a pet "moves in" and then the children come and it's all over. If you've ever felt lost on your 200x200cm bed, trust us, it's about to get a whole lot smaller. But unfortunately it doesn't stop at the children.

What can't you do without?

You could say that with children comes not only responsibility, but also puddles. Okay, sorry, your kids aren't the author Capek's dachshund Dášeňka, however, you may have exactly that feeling. Therefore, a mattress protector should move into the bedroom along with your children. Since we are not only interested in bed linen and down fillers, but also in sleep itself, and everything that goes with it, we will offer you a few tips on mattress protectors. Select one that:

  • …does not have plastic underneath. The mattress cannot breathe, the air does not circulate and a person sweats. Investing in a quality mattress then loses any sense.
  • …is not attached to the mattress by means of elastic bands placed in the corner. These can tear easily, mechanically damaging the mattress and the whole mattress protector often slips. Much better is a mattress protector, which is put on like a sheet.

When you find the right one, your life will be considerably simpler. When the next accident happens sooner or later, although you may think otherwise with more and more candles on your children's cake, you won't have to turn the mattress at night or find a dry place on it, or you won't have to move the mattress elsewhere in the apartment. These issues will fall away.

But its not just the kids

Yeah, maybe we should have started there in the first place. We make a lot of stains and damage in bed ourselves. Drinking red wine in white sheets can be a good Instagram photo and a good idea until you manage to spill it. But it doesn't have to be just the wine that makes a stain, anyone who has never eaten pizza in bed should throw a stone! Stains can be made by breakfast, pets, and even blood.

It can also happen quite easily that you wake up in bed after a fun night still wearing shoes, and that's also hard to explain with pure white sheets...

Whatever happens, the most important thing is not to make a big deal out of it. In almost all stains, one thing is decisive. The speed of intervention.

Ideally, dry the red wine immediately and then sprinkle the stain with lemon or salt. Leave the stain for several hours. Apply bile soap to any stain before washing.

The huge advantage of white sheets is that you can let them dry in the sun outside, which will whiten them.

Why choose white sheets?

The colour of linen is everyone's personal preference, however we recommend white bedding! Compared to dark, it has a number of undeniable advantages.

Dark bed linen is very susceptible to fading, whether it is dried in the sun or washed at high temperatures. However, it is recommended to wash your bed linen at 60 degrees, which you will appreciate during cold and flu season, because hot water is effective in killing germs and also helps to reduce allergens.

In the case of white and light-coloured linen, the stress of frequent washing at higher temperatures fades away and it lasts much longer like new.

Feathers don't have to stress you out

Even if worst comes to worst and your feather filler , is involved in an accident, there is no need to panic. With a calm mind, you can put them in the washing machine and then in the dryer. There, give them the company of two to three tennis balls or a ball specifically designed for this purpose. You can be sure that the feathers will be perfectly fluffy.

Ideally, leave the quilt out in the fresh air for a while so that all the moisture is truly gone. Regular ventilation is, by the way, the absolute basic care for down feather fillers.

So what else can we do for our bedroom today?

  • Replace dark linen with light linen, as it will not fade with frequent washing, which is very important.
  • Get a proper mattress protector and avoid a lot of unpleasant situations.
  • Buy bile soap to use at home before you wash in the washing machine.
  • Learn to be quick in the event of an accident! Quick intervention is paramount.

Accidents happen, and no bedroom can avoid them.

However, the good news is that everything can be resolved relatively simply and elegantly. Hopefully our tips will help you sort out some of those misfortunes, though of course fingers crossed that nothing major occurs in the first place!
