Our story

Stories. They begin, get complicated and end in bed. Fairy tales, comedies, dramas. Spilling wine. Dropping crumbs. Hiding. Making the bed. Making love. Giving birth. Putting to bed. Asking if he still loves you. Asking if you still love him. Waking up in shoes. Lying with shoes on for the last time.

A family tradition since the First Republic

Wonderful things usually start in bed. Like our story. And especially the story of Terezie Täubelová. Her great-grandmother Marie Líkařová owned a bed linen shop in the 1920s. She cared about the materials she carefully selected herself and about the customers, whose monograms she carefully embroidered on the linen.

“When my 96-year-old grandmother died, she was lying in the linen she got for her wedding from her mother. It was incredibly moving. My grandmother slept in the linen her mother gave her as a wedding present her whole life. That’s how good it was back then! This is exactly the quality I decided to return to today’s bedrooms.”

Terezie, founder of MARIELI

Many years later, her great-granddaughter Terezie could not find bed linen that made her happy. That were high quality, beautiful, made of material that no one need be ashamed of. There was no other way out but to return to the family tradition. There was no choice but to continue Marie Líkařová’s legacy.

And so the MARIELI brand was created.

MARIELI. A Personal Matter

It’s the 20s again. Just a hundred years later. And we want to return to Czech households materials that are beautiful, that are processed in a high-quality manner and ethically and that, above all, last for a long time. Products that are a personal matter not only for Terezie Täubelová, but also for you yourselves. And not only because of the monograms that we embroider the way her great-grandmother did.

Our Materials

The materials we use are very important to us. Not settling for something is not a whim, but a perfectly appropriate requirement. Especially when it comes to products that you use every day and are, for example, in direct contact with your skin or even your children’s skin.

The bed linen is based on 100% cotton of the highest quality and there are two weaves to choose from, percale and satin. Both will surely find their fans. The silk collection is made of genuine silk, a natural material with very specific and beneficial properties for your skin and hair.

For us, MARIELI bed linen is the most dear thing in the world because it is a personal matter, but otherwise we want it to be judged not by price or description, but above all by you.

Treat Yourself

MARIELI bed linen will accompany you your whole life. That’s because of the materials Terezie chose.

“Breathability, softness and sustainability. Those were crucial to me. That’s why I chose the highest quality cotton from single-ply long yarns, which guarantee resilience.”

Terezie Täubelová,
founder of MARIELI

Long fibers. Why do they matter?

Imagine weaving a rope from a lot of short strings. What will the result look like? The strings will stick out on all sides and the rope won’t last. It’s the same when spinning cotton. That’s why I chose single-ply yarns from long fibers.

You’ll recognize them at first touch: Smooth fabric. Soft. Resilient. Simply the best bed linen you’ve ever had.

Ethically in Relation to People and Nature

From the beginning, I wanted to build MARIELI as a brand that would make the world a better place. That’s why I was looking for environmentally-friendly materials and ethical production.

And I found a plant where people are happy to work under fair conditions and that produces Öko-Tex certified cotton bed linen in the highest quality and an environmentally-friendly way.

MARIELI down pillows and duvets are then produced in a small workshop using down from Czech farms.
Sleep with a good feeling.

Cotton satin

It’s like waking up every day in a luxury hotel. Satin is the softest and smoothest way to fall asleep. It caresses and warms.

Satin as you don’t know it

Cotton satin is love. It’s not the shiny, sticky fabric we all know. It caresses, warms, breathes.

It’s the finest material you can imagine. Curling up in it is like falling into bed in the most expensive hotel. You just want to enjoy every second.

Cotton percale

You can recognize cotton percale right away. We say it’s so strangely crisp. Smooth, fine and yet firm. It might remind you of weekends at grandma’s and the huge duvet.

Crispy, cooling percale

Remember that big quilt at grandma’s? You curled up in it and it was so pleasantly chilling and rustled crisply. That’s exactly what percale is. A strong, dense weave using long fibers. It can withstand anything, always fragrant and soft.
