We love stories, so read our as well!

Stories. In bed they begin, entwine and conclude. Fairy tales, comedies, dramas. Pour the wine. Crumble. Hide. Prepare the bed.?? Make love. To give birth. Store. Asking if he still loves you. Asking if you still love him. Waking up in shoes. Lying in shoes for the last time.

"I looked, but I didn't find exactly what I wanted. And that was the first impulse to continue the family tradition and start my own company, which I would like to make my dreams of beautiful bed linen come true for others. " That's how our founder, Terezie, describes the beginnings.

In this story, there's determination, there's history, and there's a belief that things can be done differently.

In the beginning, however, it was pure and simple disappointment. Disappointment that Tereza couldn't find the kind of bedding she wanted. "I told myself that I'm a big girl now and I don't just want something from the 'bedding supermarket' anymore. I knew I wanted beautiful, quality sheets," she says.

So she started looking a few years ago. First on the internet, because she didn't have much time to browse the shops. In the end, however, she had to go to traditional shops. But she didn't expect much success there either. . "When I finally found really nice bed linen, it cost maybe twenty thousand crowns for a single bed," she recalls of her shock at the time.

And so began the search for the right manufacturer. No compromise!

The high price surprised her so much that she thought it was impossible. Instead of letting it go and settling for a compromise, she began to read up on fabrics and materials until she was so immersed that she wrote and called textile manufacturers not only in this country but all over the world. "I had samples sent to me and found out that beautiful linen can be made at much more affordable prices and that there is a huge gap in the market," says Tereza.

She therefore decided to devote herself fully to her “hobby” around bedding. After all, she's not the first person in her family to go in this direction.

Family tradition since the First Republic

babicka-marieli-tradiceUž Tereza's great-grandmother Marie Líkařová was very determined and eventually successful. In the First Republic, she had her own bed linen shop. She picked out the materials herself and embroidered the monograms of the future owners on the sheets. What could have continued smoothly as a family tradition was forcibly suppressed by the communists in 1948. The shop was taken away from her, but her story and the linen itself have remained in the family to this day.

“When my 96-year-old grandmother was dying this year, she was lying in the sheets that her mother had given her for her wedding. It was incredibly moving,” Terezie says.

Now, not only does the family history continue with beautiful and high-quality bed linen, but it also recalls the story of her family in the name itself, which was inspired by her great-grandmother's name.

This is the new MARIELI.
